Also known as Eurasian Hoopoe. Stevenson & Fanshawe in Birds of East Africa lists African Hoopoe (Upupa africana) as a separate species to Eurasian Hoopoe (Upupa epops). Upupa africana does not appear in the IUCN Red List.
