Johnstone Strait, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada (August 2014)

This image was taken on a boat trip organised by Stubbs Island Whale Watching which departed from Telegraph Cove on Vancouver Island. The Orca or Killer Whale is the largest member of the dolphin family. The Orca in this photo is immediately recognised as a male due to its tall, straight dorsal fin. Orcas are regularly seen in the Johnstone Strait; on this trip, they were seen on two boat trips and from Bere Point on Malcolm Island.
