Polar Bear and cub on pack ice, Spitsbergen, Svalbard

At sea, Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway (April 2024)
This image was taken on the Svalbard Spring Cruise trip organised by Natures Images and led by Danny Green. A seven-day cruise was undertaken aboard the small expedition ship MV Freya with the expertise of two guides, Yves Adams and Pieter-Jan D'Hondt. This position represented the farthest north the ship reached being just south of 80 degrees N and about 700 miles from the North Pole at the edge of the pack ice.
Only one of the two cubs is visible in this image. The cubs were thought by the guides to be one to weeks out of the den and about four months old.
