Snipe at Hotel Rauðaskriða, Iceland

Hotel Rauðaskriða, Aðaldalur, near Húsavík, Iceland (June 2014)
This photo was taken through the window of my room at 6:40 am after I heard the bird calling. There is nearly 24 hours of daylight at this time of year. The hotel is a good base for trips to Húsavík (for whale-watching), Lake Mývatn and the waterfalls Dettifoss and Goðafoss. Snipe, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Whimbrel and Golden Plover were common and quite approachable in the fields surrounding the hotel.
