Whooper Swans squabbling over food, Tjörnin, Reykjavik, Iceland

Tjörnin, Reykjavik, Iceland (February 2010)
Tjörnin (translates as the Pond) is a small lake in the centre of the capital. Apparently around 40 species of birds breed here. It was partly frozen when visited in February. The ice was thick enough to be walked on. Many ducks, geese and swans congregate here to be fed by the locals. In this photo, a group of Whooper Swans are fighting over a piece of bread thrown to them.
