Golden-naped Woodpecker (female), Costa Rica
Inspiration Point, Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica (January 2016)
This photo was taken close to sunset in golden light but unfortunately this female bird stubbornly remained on the shadowed side of the tree trunk. Endemic to Costa Rica and western Panama. Status is Least Concern.
