This image was taken during a trip organised by Natures Images and led by Danny Green and Paul Hobson. In this image a slow shutter speed of 1/100 sec has been enough to freeze the head and body of the bird but the flapping wings are blurred as it tries successfully to mount a rock against the fast-flowing water. Harlequin Ducks are regularly seen in the rapids and in flight along this stretch of the River Laxa (The Icelandic Birding Pages - Where to find birds in Iceland).
