Also known as Purple/Purple-breasted Carib, Garnet/Red-breasted Hummingbird. The Purple-throated Carib is one of three species of hummingbird that can be seen on St. Lucia. The other two species are the Green-throated Carib and the Antillean Crested Hummingbird. This picture is probably of a female bird which has a longer, more curved bill than the male (as can be seen from the comparison in this photo).
