The bridge was a convenient stopping point on the journey from San Jose to Manuel Antonio. It is well-known for the American Crocodiles which sun themselves on the banks of the river beneath the bridge. The crocodiles can be observed safely from the bridge! After crossing the bridge, Route 34 runs alongside the Parque Nacional Carara. This place is around the southernmost extent of the range of the Rufous-naped Wren.
