Slaty Flowerpiercer (female) approaches orange flowers, Panama - Slaty Flowerpiercer
Finca Lerida Coffee Plantation & Hotel, Alto Quiel, near Boquete, Chiriqui Province, Panama (September 2016)

We visited Finca Lerida to sample the coffee but the beautiful gardens there were discovered to be a magnet for many birds. I only wish I could have stayed longer! The Slaty Flowerpiercer uses it's unusual hooked bill to take nectar from the base of a flower without pollinating the plant.
