Great Frigatebird attacking juvenile Booby, Kilauea Point, Kauai - Great Frigatebird
Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, Kauai, Hawaiian Islands, USA (September 2015)

Great Frigatebirds are regularly sighted patrolling the approaches to the Point and can be seen harassing Red-footed Boobies. In this image, a Frigatebird has grabbed hold of a juvenile Red-footed Booby. Unfortunately, it is a heavily cropped shot as the action occurred at some distance off the Point at around 9:50 am before the Refuge was open to the public. The Refuge is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The entrance fee is $5. Outside of opening hours, the Point and the Lighthouse together with circling sea birds can be viewed from near the gate.
