Red-footed Boobies are very commonly observed at Kilauea Point; they nest in trees and shrubs surrounding the Refuge. In this image taken at around 10:30 am, an obliging juvenile Booby has perched on a gantry near the Lighthouse inside the Refuge. The Refuge is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The entrance fee is $5. Outside of opening hours, the Point and the Lighthouse together with circling sea birds can be viewed from near the gate.
