Redshank calling, Hotel Raudaskrida, Iceland

Hotel Rauðaskriða, Aðaldalur, near Húsavík, Iceland (June 2014)
The hotel is a good base for trips to Húsavík (for whale-watching), Lake Mývatn and the waterfalls Dettifoss and Goðafoss. Snipe, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Whimbrel and Golden Plover were common and quite approachable in the fields surrounding the hotel. This image was taken from my hire car on the road leading to the hotel.
